Tell Me Why

A short poem about walking in the world while asking why.

Bees are busy gathering gold,
Ants are moving, brave and bold.
Birds are singing from the tree,
While I walk as simply me.

But I am not just walking by,
My mind is busy asking why.
Why am I here beneath this sky?
Why did I meet the people passing by?

Why was it me? Why here again?
Why does why keep circling my brain?
Do ants and bees and birds that fly
Ever stop to wonder why?

Perhaps the bee never needs to know,
The flower opens, and it goes.
Perhaps the ant never needs to ask,
Its footsteps already leads home.

Perhaps the bird never needs to ask why,
It spreads its wings and feels the freedom in the sky.
It’s only me who is on my way,
Walking and wondering, day by day.
