A Fleeting Silhouette in the Heart's Sky

A short poem tracing the silhouette of a passing mood.

How can I catch it and make it appear?
Let me gather my words and draw it near.

It is heavy and grey, with sorrow entwined,
Though no certain cause can be brought to mind.
It is lonely and cold, adrift in the air,
Yet quietly holding a hope somewhere.

Nameless,
unclear,
distant from sight,
bottomless,
lost in the night.

Absurdity,
absence,
longing and dread—
falling,
and aching
where the heart has bled.

What is this shadow I cannot define?
Nothing more than this passing mood of mine.

I know it is only a cloud in the blue,
And little by little, it too will pass through.
So let me remain here and trace its design,
A fleeting silhouette in the heart-sky of mine—

To prove that once, in this inward place,
It truly arrived
and left its trace.
